Thessaloniki is 2.300 years old city, was founded in 315 BC by King Cassandros and was named after the sister of Alexander the Great. Thessaloniki is the center of Greek North and the country’s second largest city with 1.200.000 population. Thessaloniki is the leading conference city in Greece and one of the main cultural destinations in Europe. A city by the sea with annual average of 300 days of sunshine. International airport with direct flight to European capitals and other cities. Excellent starting point for interesting excursions. Organizing Committee will provide the information and help for visits in various museums, ancient places,cultural events, concerts and marvelous seaside restaurants.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Chess Club “Chess Academy of Thessaloniki Galaxias” announces the International Open Chess Tournament Thessaloniki 2010”, which will be held with open participation and nine (9) rounds Swiss system. The tournament will be held in Hotel Grand Hotel Palace, Thessaloniki, from April 25th to May 1st 2011. The tournament will be held with time control for each player regulations 90 minutes for the Game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1. The FIDE system rules are valid. The tournament will be FIDE rated.
PLAYING GROUPS:
A Group: Open for all
B Group: 4 youth age groups U14 – U12 – U10 – U8. Each group need min participation of 10 players otherwise it merged with the higher group. The winner of each group wins a Laptop!
